Goodbye to my childhood and to a man who helped shape it

Larry Miller has died.

I grew up a Jazz fan. For as long as I can remember, I stood and cheered with the team and I watched a rolly-poly man on the sidelines scream and cry and care about his team as much as I cared about them. As I grew up and learned his politics and his views, I came to agree with him about nothing ... except the sport of basketball.

Here in Utah, sports are the equalizer. Here it doesn't matter - mormon, non-mormon, gay, straight, Utah fan, BYU fan ... we can forget about all of that and just be sports fans. For the three hours the Jazz are on the court - I can even find common ground with men like Larry Miller. That means a lot to me.

So, rest in peace, Larry. I hope you are now with your creator. Gods bless. You will be remembered well.
